We are delighted to announce the appointment of Ms. Nwazi Tamanya Mnthambala as a new Board Member of Women in Mining Africa (WiM-Africa)!

Ms. Mnthambala is a seasoned public financial management professional with over 30 years of distinguished service in Malawi. She currently serves as the Principal Secretary for Finance & Administration at the Ministry of Gender, Community Development & Social Welfare, where her leadership has played a pivotal role in advancing key reforms and promoting inclusive public service.

Her career reflects a remarkable blend of strategic leadership, financial expertise, and innovative reform. With extensive experience in senior government roles, she has contributed to public service transformations, pension reform enactments, and the strengthening of corporate governance. An MBA graduate from the University of Manchester and a holder of FCCA and ACCA qualifications, Ms. Mnthambala has consistently championed transparency and accountability in government financial operations.

Recognized for her progressive vision and collaborative approach, she has led initiatives focused on resource mobilization for national economic empowerment and the implementation of performance monitoring systems for parastatals. At WiM-Africa, Ms. Mnthambala’s leadership will strengthen our mission of empowering women across Africa’s mining value chain by leveraging her expertise in public financial management, governance reform, and resource mobilization. Her strategic insight into gender-responsive policy, accountability, and economic empowerment will be instrumental in advancing initiatives that create opportunities for women miners, promote responsible investment, and drive sustainable development within Malawi’s mining sector and beyond.

Please join us in extending a warm welcome to Ms. Nwazi Tamanya Mnthambala as she embarks on this new journey with the WiM-Africa Board
