In her remarks, Dr. Ogaji dedicated the award to:
Mining host communities across Africa — women, men, youth and indigenous people whose lands and lives power the global minerals economy.
She further emphasized that this recognition reinforces WiM-Africa’s mission to champion:
Women-led mineral value addition and beneficiation
Host community empowerment & inclusion in value chains
Critical minerals collaboration & policy advocacy
Youth leadership & research-driven development
ESG accountability and climate-smart mining practices
This award comes at a time when WiM-Africa is implementing its 2025–2030 Strategic Action Plan, establishing the WiM-Africa Institute for Leadership & Sustainable Mining, and advancing beneficiation laboratories across African regions.
We celebrate this historic achievement — the first of its kind for WiM-Africa — and recognize the collective effort of every chapter lead, partner institution, volunteer, miner, researcher, and host community member contributing to Africa’s mining transformation.
