Women in Mining Africa (WiM-Africa) is delighted to announce that Dr. Comfort Asokoro-Ogaji has been honoured with the Women in Mining Award at the Resourcing Tomorrow Outstanding Achievement Awards & Gala Dinner 2025, held in London on 4th December 2025.

This global recognition celebrates women demonstrating exceptional leadership, driving innovation, advancing ESG, and creating lasting impact across the mining value chain.

Dr. Ogaji was selected from an impressive pool of finalists:

2025 Finalists – Women in Mining Award

• Amanda Lacaze – Lynas Rare Earths

• Laura Tyler – Former CEO & Managing Director, Adriatic Metals

• Ingrid Hibbard – Pelangio Exploration

• Michelle Keegan – Atrico / Robopalooza

• Ria Sanz – Marlow Global

• Dr. Comfort Asokoro-Ogaji – Women in Mining Africa (Winner)

In her remarks, Dr. Ogaji dedicated the award to:

Mining host communities across Africa — women, men, youth and indigenous people whose lands and lives power the global minerals economy.

She further emphasized that this recognition reinforces WiM-Africa’s mission to champion:

  • Women-led mineral value addition and beneficiation

  • Host community empowerment & inclusion in value chains

  • Critical minerals collaboration & policy advocacy

  • Youth leadership & research-driven development

  • ESG accountability and climate-smart mining practices

This award comes at a time when WiM-Africa is implementing its 2025–2030 Strategic Action Plan, establishing the WiM-Africa Institute for Leadership & Sustainable Mining, and advancing beneficiation laboratories across African regions.

We celebrate this historic achievement — the first of its kind for WiM-Africa — and recognize the collective effort of every chapter lead, partner institution, volunteer, miner, researcher, and host community member contributing to Africa’s mining transformation.
