About Us

Women in Mining Africa (WIM-Africa) is a non-profit organization dedicated to enhancing the working conditions of women artisanal miners in rural African communities. We collaborate with local NGOs, CBOs, community groups, cooperatives, associations, trade groups, and women's networks to provide information, knowledge, skills, and capacity-building to empower women miners and improve their livelihood opportunities.

 

Our initiatives encompass skills development programs, leadership and management training, and the promotion of safer mining practices.

Role Description

This is a remote volunteer position as a Country Program Executive for Women in Mining Africa (WIM-Africa). As a Country Program Executive, your responsibilities will include managing and coordinating WIM-Africa's initiatives in your assigned country. This involves collaborating with local stakeholders, organizing and implementing skills development programs, overseeing leadership and management training, and monitoring the impact of our interventions. You will also be engaged in fundraising efforts and reporting on program outcomes.

Qualifications

- Experience in program management and coordination
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Knowledge of the mining industry and the challenges faced by women artisanal miners
- Ability to work independently and remotely
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
- Proficiency in written and spoken English
- Experience in fundraising and grant writing is a plus
- Understanding of gender equality and women empowerment issues

We are particularly interested in candidates with experience working, volunteering, or living in sub-Saharan Africa, and/or exposure to the social sector.

The Board convenes every two months, with the CPE participating in these meetings. Grant proposals, local projects, and impacts top the agenda. All meetings are conducted online.

Please note that this is a voluntary position, and there is no remuneration except in grant-specific conditions.

Duration: 12 Months
