Uganda and Women Miners

At sixty, Kyomuhendo doesn't exactly have the job profile. But she is one of around 3,000 people who have flocked to this gold mining site in central Uganda in search of better prospects for themselves and their families.

The results speak for themselves: the contribution of women to artisanal mining cannot be underestimated, yet they face significant inequalities that must be ironed out.
