Empowering Women to Lead Africa’s Mineral Transformation

Women-Led Mineral Value Addition & Market Linkages

WiM-Africa’s first program under the Seven-Point Program Agenda (7PPA) focuses on equipping women entrepreneurs, cooperatives, and mineral processors to actively participate in value addition, beneficiation, and trade across Africa and global markets.

This program supports the establishment of women-led mineral value addition hubs, promoting inclusive participation in AfCFTA trade, and driving Africa’s shift from raw exports to local processing and industrialization.

Program Goals

  • Strengthen women-led enterprises in mineral beneficiation and processing.

  • Develop market linkages across AfCFTA and global supply chains.

  • Build infrastructure and capacity for local value addition.

  • Foster technology transfer and innovation through industrial partnerships.

How to Partner

WiM-Africa welcomes collaboration from institutions and organizations aligned with Africa’s sustainable mining vision:

1. Governments & Regional Bodies

  • Integrate gender-responsive trade policies under AfCFTA frameworks.

  • Co-host investment forums on women-led mineral processing.

2. Private Sector & Investors

  • Co-invest in mineral beneficiation hubs and value chain infrastructure.

  • Provide equipment, technology, and technical training to women cooperatives.

  • Facilitate market access and export linkages through procurement partnerships.

3. Development & Financial Institutions

  • Support blended financing mechanisms for women’s industrial participation.

  • Provide grants, trade finance, and export readiness programs.

  • Partner on research and feasibility studies for mineral value addition industries.

4. Academia & Research Institutions

  • Co-develop curricula and certification programs for women in mineral processing.

  • Offer research partnerships on beneficiation technologies and value chain optimization.

  • Contribute to the WiM-Africa Institute for Leadership, Sustainable Mining & Value Addition.
